Playing with the Sprinkler
Clean

Here is a original tribute instrumental to the Minneapolis band Crow. I borrowed a couple lines from Cottage Cheese which is one of my all time favorite rock tunes, that tune influenced me the most as a young rock bass player and should be on the school of rock to learn list for all bass players. On this tune there was some heavy duty processing of the guitar. I use the Parker Night Fly SA in the stereo mode, one channel going through a pedal board to the Peavy Delta Blues and the other going through the Roland GT-6 to the Galaxy 25 amp using a Heavy Metal distortion patch. The bass is the Sterling, recorded DI. The sprinkler I'm not sure of the brand name, but it wasn't cycling right, and gave the most technical difficulty. Enjoy my copyrighted original songs that I offer as free downloads. Thanks,
Lance

Ping Pong Polka Steve Feyereisen & Lance Olson

I play all kinds of music and one of the bands I had the most fun with was "The Hometown Express". We were the perfect wedding band, playing traditional polka's & waltz's to 60"s rock and everything in between. Steve Feyereisen with his accordian lead the very popular "Valley Boys" a top band in the region before The Home Town Express.
The picture is of the Red Rooster located outside of New Richmond Wisconsin. We played the Rooster frequently and I have fond memories of the place.
Steve and I recorded several tunes at his home recently using a Zoom H2 digital recorder, the other parts were added back at my studio. The Ping Pong Polka is a tune you might here coming out of the Red Rooster on Sat. with a place packed full of people and smoke too.. Thanks for listening, Lance

Meet my old and some newer friends. These are the tools I use for my recordings. They are beautiful, aren't they? The tune Old Friend is re-recorded from a tune I wrote long ago. The concept for the song was from a reunion with drummer friend Ron that played in The Division with me and Paul,Dave,Connie (manager Gayle). It seemed fitting now that old friends could also be my old guitars, bass's,mandoline.
I created this wall of acoustic sound using all the acoustic guitars + the Mandoline. This tune also is benefiting from new mastering software. Thanks for listening.

This is a departure from my old, old, old, school of thought about mixing and I have extended the low end, increased the drums, played some old style riffs with some jazz type chords, used a Big Muff old style distortion through finely tweaked Gibson Galaxy tube amp, Played my custom built/wired Telecaster, the one in the picture, used a Johnny Smith Ibanez for the mellow jazz guitar part. Used Beatcraft software to build the drum parts and spent more time than I usually do on the mix. Dj's this ones for you and of coarse for anyone who would like to download it and have on there play list. Have a Great Day! thanks for listening. Lance Olson

Totogatac River Lance Olson 2008

There’s a river in Wisconsin in the great north woods
and it’s a wild wild,wild,wild.
Catch a trout catch a bass catch a sunny fish
and it’s a wild, wild, wild.
You can hunt you can hike
you can float on its back cause its
a wild wild,wild,wild.

Totogatac river you’re a big little river
Totogatac river you’ve been running here forever
Totogatac river at my back door
Totogatac river here forever more

Lead break

You’ve got the big Mississippi
Running north and south
Floats hundreds of miles
And ended at the gulf
The St Croix, Namakagin
And don’t forget the Brule
But if you’ve never seen the Totogatac
Your missing it you fool.

Totogatac River you’re a big little river
Totogatac River it’s been running here forever
Totogatac River at my back door
Totogatac River forever more
Lead break
You wont find a fast food restaurant sitting on its bank
Just some Eagles having carryout snack back at the nest.
Turkey, Deer & Bear playing in its water.
An untouched beauty made by Mother Nature
Totogatac River you’re a big little river
Totogatac River you’ve been running here forever
Totogatac River at my back door
Totogatac River forever more

Well I’ve seen the skyline of the big city
Lived on a mountain top and it sure is pretty
A city in the desert, and a little farming stop
But there is nothing that can top

He said how do I do? I said very well thank you

The sun woke me up this morning had a funny grin upon his face
The sun woke me up this morning had a funny grin upon his face
I said I know your up to something but just come on in

You see me and the moon we have been hanging out all night long
You see me and the moon we have been hanging out all night long

That moon he can be your best buddy or sometimes a horrible fright..

This song I wrote about a childhood adventure with my friend Lanny and his dog Spike my next door neighbor. We built forts with weeds and played along the creek behind our houses. There was an abonded house that was Maggies house and all the land around it we called Maggies Jungle. On occassion we would be terrorized by the older kids. It was a day in the life on a afternoon in a small town in Wisconsin.
I wrote this many years ago and re-recorded recently.
thanks,
Lance Here are the lyrics:Maggie’s Jungle Lance Olson 2008

When I was a small boy I’d get up early in the morning and say
I’d say mama, mama can I go outside and play?
And She’d say son you can, but you listen to what I say,
And She’d say son you can, but you better watch out today

Because there’s people out there who would try to steal you away
And I couldn’t bear the thought of living just one day without you.

Mama don’t you worry I’m walking through Maggie’s Jungle today
With my best friend and his dog Spike, were going down by the water and play
To our weed forts and our stick swords and brave Spike leading the way
We’ll catch some chubs and some suckers and crabs along the way

We got it made, we got it made, and we got it made.

Then the big boys will come and chase us
Chase us far away with their crew cuts and white T-shirts
You think they’ll find us today?
But in our weed forts and our stick swords
They wont see our hideaway

Oh mama don’t you worry don’t you worry today
Cause in our weed forts with our stick swords
Our brave Spike will lead us your way

We got it made we got it made, we got it made.

Because there’s people out there who would try to steal us away
And I couldn’t bear the thought of living just one day without you.
